A black hole is basically a point at which there is so much mass that there is so much gravity not even light can escape!

There are three different types of black hole which are made in different ways. The smallest type of black hole can be tiny… The size of a single atom. These are thought to have formed when the universe was made.

The next kind of black hole is a stellar black hole This type of black hole can have the mass of 20 suns. It is formed after a supernova. A supernova is a huge explosion that happens when a star dies. After this explosion the remaining mass collapses forming a black hole.

The last kind of black hole is a supermassive black hole that can have the mass of 1000 suns. No one really knows how they form… One theory is that they might form when a star dies without a supernova explosion and it’s mass just collapses. It is thought that there is a supermassive black hole in the center of every galaxy. Our black hole is called Sagittarius AMATOMO_URL Luckily Earth is safe in it’s orbit around the sun and our nearest black hole is far too far away for earth to get sucked in… What a relief!!

I hope this answer is OK! I’ve just impressed some of my colleges with some of the space knowledge I have learned this week so thanks for the question!!
