Oh yes: we certainly did. All of the evidence we can find leads to the definite conclusion that humans evolve in a straight line from apes. If you look at a chimp brain, it is almost identical to a human brain in structure (the main difference is something called glycosidation, which enables us to think in different ways). It’s important to be clear that there is no controversy about this theory: it is probably the most accepted theory in science, and very , very few scientists disagree with it.
Not an expert, but under the authority of Stephen Fry and Alice Roberts I claim this is untrue. Humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor, rather than humans evolving from apes.
