Human beings have to have a core body temperature of around 37 degrees Celsius in order to survive. If our body temperature drops below this temperature we get something called hypothermia. Hypothermia can cause us to shiver, move very slowly, loose coordination and memory loss. Eventually our body temperature might fall so much that we go to sleep and we can’t wake up.

This is one of the biggest dangers of surviving in a very cold place. To prevent it you would have to wear a lot of clothes to keep your body heat in your body and stop it being lost to the air around you. You would also need to eat a lot of food as you need plenty of energy for your body to keep warm. Sounds like a good excuse for an extra piece of cake!

Have you ever been anywhere really really cold?
