• Question: How much longer will Foraminiferas live?

      Hi @bat4, Hopefully foraminifera will live for a long time yet. They have been around for the last 300 million years and seen lots of things happen to the earth. Some of the types of foraminifera have died out in the past when the ocean got too hot and 55 million years ago there was a mass extinction of foraminifera. This means they all got killed off just like the dinosaurs did. But eventually other, different types of foraminifera always come along to replace them.

      We don’t really know what is going to happen to foraminifera in the next few centuries and that is what my research is about…
