Hi @stringer6. There are many different infections that can be terminal. Luckily for us these are very rare. Some types of bacteria and viruses are more likely to cause a terminal illness than others. This is because they might have a much worse effect on your body. Infections, such as colds, are not deadly usually. This is because they mainly live in the nostrils, causing a runny nose and you to sneeze. However, there are some particularly nasty microbes that have a high possibility of causing death. Luckily these are very very rare (and not normally found in the UK). These are generally microbes that can get all around the body. Some people may have something that makes it more likely to get a deadly disease. So in elderly people or people whose immune system (the way your body tries to get rid of microves) don’t work properly could die from something that healthy people may be fine with. This causes a worse effect because the microbes can spread all around the body. Doctors have to look after these people more closely because of this. A lot of infections can be treated with medicine before they become terminal, which is great news for those who are infected.
