Ahh Mount Vesuvius… I know it well… I’ve climbed up it, it was pretty scarey.

The last time Mt Vesuvius erupted was in a little blast in 1944, and it could happen again at any time. Luckily there is only around a 4% chance that the next eruption will be as big as the one in 79AD which destroyed the city of Pompeii and made the volcano as infamous as it is today… I guess that’s little comfort to the people of modern Naples who live in the shadow of the volcano, but the government has an evacuation plan ready, in case the mountain wakes up, to get all of the people in harms way to safety.
