Grass is green because it contains a pigment called chlorophyll inside it’s chloroplasts where photosynthesis happens. Photosynthesis is the process by which light energy from the sun is converted to chemical energy which can be stored as starch.

The chlorophyll is very important in this process as it absorbs the light from the sun so the plant can convert it’s energy. The reason we see grass as green is that the chlorophyll absorbs the red and blue parts of the suns light and reflects the green. So that’s how we see it- green.
